Open PowerShell
Open Windows PowerShell or PowerShell 7 as your normal user. Administrator access is not required.

Run the installer
Run the stable installer:The installer downloads the native Windows x64 release, verifies its Authenticode signature and approved signer identity, and installs it under
%LOCALAPPDATA%\Programs\coderabbit.3
Verify the installation
Open a new PowerShell window, then check both command names:

Authenticate
Sign in with your CodeRabbit account:For an EU-hosted account, run
coderabbit auth login --region eu instead.What the installer configures
- Installs
coderabbit.exeand thecr.exealias in%LOCALAPPDATA%\Programs\coderabbit - Adds that directory to the current user’s
PATH - Verifies Authenticode validity, the approved signer subject and issuer, and the Code Signing EKU before installing the executable
- Keeps the installation scoped to the current user, without administrator rights
coderabbit is not recognized immediately, close PowerShell and open a new window so it reloads the updated user PATH.
Install an exact version
SetCODERABBIT_VERSION in the current PowerShell session before running the installer:
0.7.5 without a leading v.
Update CodeRabbit CLI
For a standard per-user installation, run:coderabbit.exe and cr.exe together. If replacement or verification fails, the installer restores the previous pair. Manually copied executables are outside this update flow; rerun the PowerShell installer to move them to the supported location.
