| A connected knowledge repository is a Git repository of documents, such as a handbook, runbooks or architecture notes. CodeRabbit uses it as reference knowledge in your organization’s reviews and scans.

Requirements and limits

Connected knowledge repositories are available on CodeRabbit Cloud for GitHub, GitLab, Azure DevOps and Bitbucket Cloud.
Connected knowledge repositories are available as part of a private preview on the Team, Advanced and Enterprise plans. Contact CodeRabbit support to enable them for your organization.
  • CodeRabbit always uses the default branch (for example, main or master) as the content source.
  • Only an organization admin can connect, refresh or disconnect a repository.
  • The repository must already be installed for CodeRabbit in the same organization.

Connect a repository

  1. In the CodeRabbit app, open General → Knowledge repositories in the sidebar.
  2. Under Repository to connect, search for the repository and select it.
    • A public knowledge repository is used for every repository in your organization.
    • A private or internal knowledge repository is used only for other private and internal repositories.
  3. Click Connect. CodeRabbit confirms with Repository connected and starts the first sync.
  4. The repository appears in the list with links to Re-index, Disconnect and its summary page.
  5. The repository is usually available in reviews and scans within a few minutes.
If the repository is missing from the search, install CodeRabbit on it first. If Connect is unavailable, your plan’s limit is reached or your role is not organization admin.

Feature support

  • Pull request reviews: check changes against your documented conventions and guidelines.
  • Chat replies on pull requests and issues: answer questions with your docs as context.
  • Deep Scan and pull request security scans: give security agents your architecture and threat notes.
  • Coding Agent (coming soon): give cloud coding tasks your docs while they work.
  • QA Agent (coming soon): inform test planning and testing.

Manage a connected repository

You can manage connected repositories from Knowledge repositories in settings:
  • Update the knowledge: push to the default branch. CodeRabbit refreshes it automatically.
  • Force a refresh: click Re-index on the repository’s row.
  • View the summary page: click the repository on Knowledge repositories, or open Knowledge base in the sidebar.
  • Stop using a repository: click Disconnect. CodeRabbit removes its summary page and stops using it.
  • Stop a single repository from using connected knowledge: turn on the knowledge base opt-out for that repository, in its settings or in .coderabbit.yaml. Later reviews, scans and agent runs for that repository ignore connected repositories.
